Blokes on Boats
Blokes on Boats
The four cousins Jan, Jonny, Bo and Jesper love - like their friends - the free life at sea and the unique unity in Thorupstrand. They have decided to throw all their energies and ideas into the fight to avoid the blue boats in the beach disappears forever.
The fishermen of Thorupstrand have to innovate if they will secure their lives and if the old fishing tradition should live on in future generations. The wealth of ideas with friends is great: Instead of hope for better auction prices, they try to sell the fish itself, and therefore they jointly bought a boat, located in Copenhagen's harbor and sell fresh fish to Copenhagen directly from Jammerbugten.
But life is also about other things than fish. When the friends take time off, they - among other things - arrange the perfect annual beach party, they work as volunteers at the city's rescue station, grow potatoes and try with all their ingenuity to invent new ways to supplement the income from fishing.
And then it is of course about love and to ensure the next generation in an area of Denmark where the girls have moved into the cities long time ago.
In a time when more and more young people are looking towards the city, we meet a handful of close friends and family members in Blokes on Boats who have chosen the exact opposite. Four cousins and their friends, who all insist on the dream of working at sea and hold on to the values that also meant everything to the older generations of the place: The freedom to determine their own lives.
